E.A. Poe's poem The Raven tells the tormented night of a man suffering from the death of his beloved, Lenore. A raven enters through the window and perches on the bust of Pallas Athena, a symbol of reason. The man begins to question it about pain and about Lenore, asking if he will ever see her again in the afterlife. The raven always responds with only one word: “Nevermore!” And with each question, its answer becomes more devastating for him, transforming from a simple echo into a condemnation: the certainty that his pain will never end. In the last stanza, the raven remains motionless like an eternal omen, while the man understands that his soul will forever remain trapped in its own darkness, under the shadow of the bird.
